The alighnment of the Sun, EArth, and the center of the galxy is a theory that will cause the end of the world. This is incorrect says astronomers, the say that "we weill nit even be at at its closest alignment during the 2012 solstice". "A black hole in the center of the galxy will draw the Earth in", says a theory of the end of the world, but this is also false because gravity lessens the more distant the object is. The Earth is 165 quadrillion miles from the Milky Ways black hole. Upon reading this article and ones preceding this i honestly feel confident to say the end of the world will not occur in 2012. Astronomers proved these theories wrong, and as the article recommends i will enjoy the winter solstice.
Coronal Mass Ejections can erode some of the lunar surface says NASA scientist according to simulations conducted. Scientist fear that neighboring planets such as Mars could be harmed due to its lack of an atmosphere, CMEs could erode massive amounts of the lunar surface in two days time, 100-200 tons. These solar winds are composed of plasma and are highly charged. The winds also carry light weight hydrogen ions which contribute to giving the solar winds a massive electrical charge. Scientist also suspect the Coronal Mass Ejections may play a role in the northern and southern lights. CMEs should be further researched, i think that this is the biggest threat from our sun. The more we understand CMEs the better we can protect ourselves from the sun.
Astronomers managed to capture a photo of the youngest supernova. The photo was taken 14 days after a star in the galaxy " Galaxia del Remoli" exploded. This photo is of high quality, it is compared ti have the quality of a picture taken of a golf ball on the moon. The telescopes that weer in the research were NASA's telescope at Robeldo De Chavela and National Geographic Institute in Yebos. The photo is in detail a hundred times greater than that of the Hubble telescope. The technique used to do this is called radio interferometry. Supernovas are soo destructive yet soo beautiful. A end of a star to start the lives of others. With this picture we can take a closer look on supernovas and uncover more details about them.
Nov 11, 2011 http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/11/111111095550.htm People of earth are scared for their lives believing that killer solar flares will engulf the Earth. Although the suns solar activity is reaching its 11 year cycle, the sun cannot produce enough energy to launch solar flares far enough to barbeque the Earth, which is 93 million miles away. One threat that the Earth faces from the sun is Coronal Mass Ejection. The sun could send particles and electromagnetic fluctuations into the Earths atmosphere. This can blow out transformers and power grids. It is a threat such as a hurricane, to protect yourself stay put and turn off your electronics. None the less solar flares are the least of our worries. I feel more at ease after reading this article, solar flares simply cannot harm our planet.
The Pacman nebula is seen by visible light telescopes, it is a cloud that looks like it is "chomping" through the cosmos, for this reason astronomers nick named this nebula the "Pacman" nebula.Recently astronomers and scientist discovered that the Pacman nebula is growing a set of teeth. The new set of "teeth" are newly forming stars. The Pacman nebula is 9,200 light years away in the constellation called Cassiopeia. The Pacman nebula is soo abnormal for its shape, i would not be surprised if we discovered even more abstract shaped or figures in space.
Venus express has flown by Venus and its atmosphere is actually thinner than what astronomers concluded. Venuses atmosphere is 60% less than predicted. Venus express has also discovered that there is a sharp density change from day to night on the planet. The suns gravity effects the course of Venus express so every 40-50 days engines must be fired to keep it on the right orbit. To uncover more facts about Venus scientist will lower the orbit of Venus express in early 2012. Venus seems to have outwitted scientist, but with the Venus express we will be able to acquire more data on Venuses newly discovered thin atmosphere.
Planet with 2 sunsets is discovered. Kepler discovered a planet that orbits 2 stars, this planet is 200 light years from our planet. this planet which is called Kepler 6-B is in the presence of reoccurring eclipses and proves the diversity of planets in our solar system. Kepler 6-B is not habitable and is a cold world and is also about the size of Saturn. With this discovery we are able to broaden our ideas of how some of our planets are structured in our solar system. Kepler 6-B proves that our solar system is not the least bit prosaic, but abnormal and full of diversity.
Rovers on Mar's surface original plan of a 90-180 day of exploration on 2 regions has turned into a greater exploration, or investigation. Spirit and Opportunity completed their basic missions in April of 2004. Opportunity collected samples from a rock on mars called Tisdale, its sample included Zinc, Bromine, Phosphorus, Chlorine and Sulfur, which is present with water. Opportunity is at its end , only made to travel 600 meters it has traveled 33,500 meters. Mars is a place of wonders and with each sample we retrieve and for every photo that is snapped we are closer to understanding the mysterious red planet.
Planet 2007 OR10, also known as snow white is a arctic word, half is covered in ice water from ancient forming volcanoes. Astronomers suggest that methane once roamed in snow whites withering atmosphere. Snow white is the 5th largest dwarf planet and retains its name because of its appearance. Snow white is red when observed through a telescope. This is a astonishing fact discovered by scientist because snow white is covered in icy water. Methane in the atmosphere makes it appear red astronomers soon realized this. Although methane in the atmosphere is highly likely due to ancient volcanoes, this is not yet proven. Snow white is worth the effort to study i would say. The more we know about this planet, the more we can interpolate the information we gathered from this with other planets.
A picture of E5Ds telescope displays a spiral galaxy that is about 35 million light years away. This is located in the constellation of Leo. The spiral is irregular and patchy consisting of veins of dust and newly forming stars. This region is named NGC5321even though a french astronomer named Messier founded a lot of Leos stars , he seemed to have missed NGC5321. Oleg Maily who helped produce the image, created it with high resolution and with high rank i found this to be very interesting. Oleg Maily was able to produce a high quality image of something that is 35 million light years away.
